Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report talks to Newt Gingrich (Former Speaker of the House) about the mishandling of the COVID 19 crisis by state governments, the distorted worldview of Black Lives Matter, and the exodus of people and businesses out of America’s major cities. Newt compares Italy’s recovery from the COVID 19 pandemic to the failed leadership of United States governors like Gavin Newsom, and Andrew Cuomo. Newt talks about the power that teacher’s unions have over the Democratic Party to keep paying teachers while they fight to prevent reopening schools. Newt also discusses the biased favorable treatment that Governors like Andrew Cuomo receive from mainstream media for their leadership despite his mistake of forcing nursing homes in NY to take in over 6,000 elderly who had tested positive for coronavirus. Newt talks about how he is not concerned about fake news or the mainstream media’s dominance of the news sector due to all the different ways Americans can get their news from. He is worried about the political polarization and extreme partisanship that has gripped our nation and doesn’t think the country has been this divided since President Abraham Lincoln took office. He is also concerned by the embrace of far left policies by people like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. Even centrist Joe Biden has people on his campaign staff that have donated money to bail out looters and rioters that were jailed during the Minneapolis protests. Newt also discusses the distorted worldview of Black Lives Matter and why they only care about African Americans who are killed by police officers while they ignore shootings in Chicago or anything that doesn’t fit into their narrow narrative. He also points out the irony that these same activists are against proposals that would help African American kids like charter schools, school choice and school voucher programs. Newt discusses the civil unrest overtaking America’s major cities. He is critical of Democratic Mayors that have allowed looting and riots to spread in their cities. He worries that the decline of our major cities will only accelerate as businesses and people decide that leaving California for low tax states is the only sensible solution. Already we are seeing more people and businesses leaving NYC. Newt fears that if Mayors don’t get control of the situation, it is not unlikely that someone like Jeff Bezos could decide that leaving Seattle is in Amazon’s best interest, a decision that could quickly turn Seattle into Detroit. Newt also shares how Ronald Reagan flipped from being a Democrat to a Republican.
